What is Markdown?
Markdown (.md) is plain text plus light markers: clean and easy to version-control, but limited — better as a conversion source than a reading format.
About the format
Markdown (.md) is plain text plus light markers: # for headings, ** for bold, | for tables. Because it is plain text, any editor can open it and files version cleanly; the file is tiny. The trade-off is limited expressiveness — no pagination or headers, and no precise control over type size or layout. It works better as a conversion source than a final reading format.
